Grant founded his law firm in 1986 and it quickly became well known for mortgagee sales,receivership and liquidation work and from the early ‘90s, for complex litigation and class action law suits, many of which have had wide public profile. The firm now comprises two partners and several lawyers and has a strong property, commercial and venture capital practice.
In 1994, Grant lead a team of United Nations observers to the first domestic elections in
South Africa and the following year, in the wake of the Cave Creek Commission of Inquiry, was awarded the National Business Review’s “New Zealander of the Year” award for personal endeavour and contribution to
New Zealand law.
Grant maintains a strong interest in strategic planning, marketing and management issues and is developing particular interest and specialty in ‘innovation’ processes. He is increasingly involved in mediation and alternative dispute resolution options.
Also,Grant is a member of the
Institute of
Directors, a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management (and a legal adviser to both the Canterbury Division and the National body) and has been a speaker at various Law Society, Insurance and commercial conferences.
